Job summary

OpenAI seeks a Senior Legal Discovery Program Manager to shape and scale discovery capabilities across litigation, regulatory matters, and investigations. You will drive operations, governance, and vendor strategies while partnering with Legal, Engineering, IT, Security, Privacy, and outside counsel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of discovery, litigation support, legal operations, or related work, with ownership of complex discovery programs.
• Experience leading projects and programs at a fast-paced technology company, building programs from the ground up.
• Deep understanding of the discovery lifecycle from preservation to production and practical needs of litigation, regulatory matters, investigations.
• Strong knowledge of eDiscovery platforms, enterprise data systems, information governance; ability to work with technical teams on requirements and integrations.
• Experience managing discovery vendors and outside counsel, assessing service quality and costs, driving improvements when delivery falls short.
• Excellent program management and analytical skills: prioritization, milestones, and data-driven decisions.
• Clear written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and ability to influence partners without direct authority.
• Ownership mindset, comfort with ambiguity, practical problem-solving.
• Excitement to learn and apply AI to legal work.

Responsibilities

• Build and advance OpenAI’s discovery program, including scalable operations, core processes, standards, vendor strategy, and information governance initiatives.
• Partner with Legal, Engineering, IT, Security, Privacy and other teams to translate legal requirements into practical solutions, tooling, and workflows.
• Drive AI and agentic discovery initiatives from use cases through pilot and adoption, with clear quality, reliability, and impact measures.
• Provide guidance on complex discovery matters and escalations, collaborating with case teams, external counsel, and other partners on execution.
• Track program outcomes, communicate priorities, risks, resource needs, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership to continuously improve the program.
