Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Japanese language expert to help train AI systems. You will evaluate and improve AI-generated Japanese content, shaping how AI understands, generates, and teaches Japanese across learners.

The role is remote, hourly, with a minimum of 15 hours per week and fully asynchronous collaboration with project leads. Native or near-native fluency, teaching or assessment experience, and strong bilingual communication are essential. AI exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language.
• Excellent bilingual written communication in Japanese and English (C1/C2).
• Familiarity with CEFR frameworks and learner speech patterns.
• Bachelor's degree or higher; enrolled in or completed.
• Attention to detail in linguistic judgment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese for accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+.
• Identify learner errors, awkward phrasing, and pedagogical gaps with expert judgment.
• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and pedagogically sound Japanese.
• Provide structured feedback that improves AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.

• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and pedagogically sound Japanese
• Provide structured feedback that directly improves AI tutoring and language-learning models
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts

Who You Are

• Native or near-native fluency in Japanese
• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language
• Strong written communication skills in both Japanese and English (C1/C2)
• Solid familiarity with CEFR frameworks and learner speech patterns
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment
• No prior AI experience required
