Alignerr is seeking a Japanese Language Expert to help evaluate and refine AI systems for Japanese language learning and communication. Your linguistic expertise will directly influence how AI understands, assesses, and teaches Japanese for learners worldwide.

The role focuses on evaluating AI-generated content, identifying errors, and providing structured feedback, all in a fully remote, asynchronous freelance setup with a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language.
• Fluent in English (C1/C2).
• Familiar with CEFR frameworks and learner speech patterns.
• Currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across CEFR levels from Pre-A1 through B2+.
• Identify learner errors, awkward phrasing, and pedagogical gaps using expert judgment.
• Provide clear, structured feedback that improves AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.
• Contribute to raising overall quality and reliability of AI language instruction.
