Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Japanese Language Expert to contribute to AI training by evaluating and improving AI systems trained on Japanese content. This remote freelance role focuses on linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality to shape how AI understands and teaches Japanese.

You will work asynchronously, across proficiency levels from Pre-A1 to B2+, and collaborate with project leads and other language experts.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Japanese.
• Strong written communication skills in Japanese and English (C1/C2).
• Solid familiarity with CEFR frameworks and learner speech patterns.
• Attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across proficiency levels from CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+.
• Identify learner errors, unnatural phrasing, and pedagogical gaps with expert judgment.
• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and pedagogically sound Japanese.
• Provide structured feedback that directly improves AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.

Who You Are

• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment
• No prior AI experience required
