McDermott Will & Schulte, a leading global law firm, seeks a Knowledge & Innovation Counsel to drive AI adoption across practice groups. The role focuses on knowledge management, solution design, training, and partnering with the Applied AI team to deploy practical AI tools for lawyers.

The KIC will mentor attorneys and analysts, curate precedents, and advance AI-enabled legal service delivery while aligning with firm strategy and practice priorities.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited university.
• 6+ years of practice and/or knowledge management experience.
• Familiarity with the firm’s AI platforms (Harvey, Claude, ChatGPT, CoCounsel, Copilot).
• Experience with practice tech and knowledge platforms (Practical Law, analytics tools, document automation).
• Ability to translate practice needs into prompts, agents and workflows.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills with training experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for one or more practice groups within the Innovation function.
• Guide attorneys on AI tools across matter lifecycles, leveraging firm platforms and practice-specific solutions.
• Customize prompts and workflows to improve day-to-day utility.
• Lead training sessions to boost adoption of AI tools.
• Structure and curate precedents, playbooks, and institutional knowledge for easy access.
