Job summary

McDermott Will & Schulte LLP seeks a Knowledge & Innovation Counselor (KIC) to advance the firm’s use of AI and legal technologies. The role blends knowledge management, solution development, user enablement, and hands‑on support to drive adoption across practice groups.

As a primary advisor for assigned groups (IP, Regulatory, Private Client, Business Restructuring, Energy, Real Estate, FI), you will guide attorneys on AI tools, customize prompts, and build practical AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

JD from an accredited university.
At least six years of practice or knowledge management experience in law.
Familiarity with firm AI platforms (Harvey, Claude, ChatGPT, CoCounsel, Copilot).
Ability to translate practice group needs into AI prompts, agents, and workflows.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary contact for the Innovation function within one or more practice groups.
Guide attorneys on AI tools across the matter lifecycle.
Collaborate with attorneys and cross‑functional teams to identify high‑value use cases.
Lead training sessions and drive user adoption of AI measures.
Curate precedents, playbooks, and institutional knowledge for AI enablement.
Monitor AI and legal tech developments and report impacts.
