Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities and scale AI across its Transportation Business Group.

The role blends internal solution development, data foundation improvements, and gradually client-facing advisory work as capabilities mature. Responsibilities include designing AI solutions, building reusable components, and leading end-to-end model lifecycles while identifying bottlenecks and partnering with IT and stakeholders to implement scalable

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in a closely related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience with data engineering tools and languages (SQL, Power Query, Pandas).
• Minimum 3 years experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).
• Minimum 3 years experience with data science languages (Python, R).
• Experience managing end-to-end data science projects and model lifecycles.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented with strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions for internal transportation business needs.
• Build reusable data pipelines and workflows for scalable client delivery.
• Manage full model lifecycle: development, deployment, monitoring, retraining, inference.
• Identify data, system, and tooling bottlenecks; partner with IT and stakeholders to implement improvements.
• Translate complex problems into structured AI solutions and communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
• Support client pursuits and contribute to repeatable AI services offerings.
