Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement within its Transportation Business Group. This role targets building internal AI capabilities, improving data foundations, and removing bottlenecks to scale AI across HDR's transportation projects.

In early phases you will focus on internal solutions, data pipelines, and governance, then transition toward client-facing AI delivery, leveraging proven solutions as repeatable services for HDR clients and industries.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years experience with SQL, Power Query and Pandas.
• At least 3 years experience with BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• 3+ years experience with Python and R.
• Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and production model deployment.
• Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience leading data science projects and model lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation needs.
• Build reusable AI components, data pipelines, and scalable workflows.
• Manage full model lifecycle including deployment, monitoring, drift, retraining, and inference.
• Identify data availability, integration, governance and tooling bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with IT, data architects, and stakeholders to implement improvements.
• Translate problems into structured AI solutions and communicate to diverse audiences.
• Support future client pursuits and contribute to repeatable AI services.
