Job summary

MEDHOST, a Franklin, Tennessee-based healthcare IT leader, seeks a Software Architect to set architectural direction for Java/web applications and lead AI-driven development initiatives. You will mentor teams, review designs, and help deliver secure, scalable solutions while aligning with product and client needs.

Responsibilities include establishing standards for AI-generated code, architecting LLM-integrated workflows, and ensuring performance and regulatory compliance across systems.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS or engineering field.
• 4 years of development experience; or 6 years with a CS/engineering degree and strong Java experience.
• Significant technical leadership experience.
• Hands-on use of AI-DLC or similar AI-native development methods in production.
• Working knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and LLM API integration.
• Experience with Claude Code or similar AI coding agents.
• Experience designing highly available environments and infrastructure.
• Strong written and verbal communication across all organization levels.
• Solid database design, implementation, and performance understanding.
• Cloud-based systems familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Set architectural vision and milestones for Java/web applications.
• Lead AI-driven development adoption and define usage of AI agents across lifecycle stages.
• Establish standards for AI-generated code and design artifacts.
• Architect solutions integrating LLMs into MEDHOST products and workflows with security considerations.
• Review technical designs to ensure architectural integrity and guide teams.
• Participate in Agile lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Plan performance targets and troubleshoot production bottlenecks (JVM, app server, DB).
• Develop and evolve development practices (unit tests, code reviews, build, deployment).
• Meet clients/users to determine long-term system needs and plans.
• Provide technical support and mentor team members.
