Job summary

Huntington Bancshares, Inc. is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to lead the design and development of complex learning experiences that build workforce capability and improve performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in instructional design and development.
• Bachelor’s degree or an additional three years of experience in Instructional Design in lieu of a degree.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing learning solutions across multiple modalities.
• Experience independently leading complex design projects from discovery through implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, learner experience, accessibility, and performance-based design principles.
• Experience using learning technologies, digital authoring tools, and rapid prototyping approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to use generative AI or other AI-enabled tools to support research, ideation, design, content development, prototyping, and quality review.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated output for accuracy, instructional integrity, appropriateness, and responsible use.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, explain design rationale, and communicate recommendations clearly.
• Strong design, facilitation, written communication, project leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Translate business, performance, and learning needs into effective learning strategies and experiences.
• Consult with stakeholders and learning partners to understand the audience, desired outcomes, performance gaps, and business context.
• Independently design solutions for complex, ambiguous, or high-impact learning needs.
• Determine the appropriate learning approach, modality, structure, learner experience, and reinforcement strategy based on the need.
• Apply adult learning, instructional design, behavioral science, and performance-support principles to solution design.
• Lead complex design projects from concept through implementation with minimal direction.
• Establish measurable learning and performance outcomes during the design process.
• Develop evaluation approaches to assess learner experience, knowledge, behavior, performance, and business impact.
• Use learner feedback, performance data, and evaluation insights to improve learning experiences.
• Provide guidance and coaching to less experienced designers.
