Job summary

Billtrust is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in the United States to provide technical leadership within a domain-aligned cohort. You will guide engineers in AI-assisted development, specify and validate complex features, and mentor teams while aligning with product managers and stakeholders.

You’ll drive AI-driven practices, design REST APIs, and lead architectural decisions to deliver scalable SaaS products with a DevOps mindset.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including enterprise SaaS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience building scalable SaaS with REST APIs and modern web tech.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within the cohort and guide AI-assisted development.
• Own complex feature specs, ensure quality, coverage, and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborate with PMs to translate business needs into technical specs.
• Mentor engineers on AI tools, spec writing, and code reviews.
