Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to orchestrate end-to-end voluntary compliance engagements across jurisdictions.

You will drive governance, maintain timelines, and manage client expectations while leveraging AI to enhance speed and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. You'll coordinate with Data Consultants, Tax Analysts, and Sales to resolve escalations and ensure seamless execution, while documenting activities in Salesforce and related tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of project management, client service delivery, or professional services coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent client projects and schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication with executives and cross-functional teams.
• Experience using enterprise AI tools for daily tasks like summaries and drafting.
• Comfort providing feedback and testing new tools and workflows.
• Attention to detail, organization, and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for multi‑jurisdiction portfolios.
• Maintain professional client relationships with clear communication rhythms and follow-ups.
• Enforce scope and ensure data and reviews arrive on schedule.
• Maintain rigorous real-time documentation in Salesforce, Certinia, and Google Drive.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Data Consultants, Tax Analysts, State Tax Authorities, Account Managers, and Sales.
• Leverage AI tools for drafting client updates, action items, and status summaries.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose automation opportunities to teams.
• Assist with user testing and feedback collection for new tools/workflows.
• Continuously refine SOPs, kickoff templates, and reporting frameworks.
