Job summary

Avalara is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead highly complex, multi-ERP implementations and shape the practice. You will own escalated engagements, define scalable architectures, and mentor senior specialists across ERP platforms including Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, NetSuite, and QuickBooks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline and 12+ years in software implementation within B2B.
• Expert in tax automation with architecting and delivering tax engines, returns, and exemption systems.
• Deep knowledge of sales and use tax compliance, nexus rules, and multi-jurisdictional requirements.
• Proven expertise across ERP and platform integrations including Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, NetSuite, and QuickBooks.
• Strong executive presence and communication for engagement at senior levels.
• Track record of mentoring specialists and raising team capability.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver end-to-end implementations across ERP and platform integrations to the highest complexity and customization.
• Own a portfolio of strategically critical customer implementations and maintain delivery quality.
• Design and lead discovery engagements with enterprise and global customers.
• Identify systemic patterns and translate into process improvements and scalable playbooks.
• Influence implementation methodology and governance materials across the team.
• Serve as escalation point for unresolved implementation challenges.
• Partner with leadership on strategy, methodology evolution, and future directions.
• Mentor senior and mid-level specialists with structured coaching.
