Avalara, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to orchestrate collaboration across multi-jurisdiction clients and ensure smooth delivery of voluntary compliance services.

You will govern projects, manage client expectations, and leverage AI tools to boost speed, transparency, and quality throughout the lifecycle. The role emphasizes proactive communication, rigorous governance, and a focus on data-driven, scalable processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, accounting, finance, communications, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in project management, client service delivery, or professional services coordination.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent client projects and timelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication with senior stakeholders.
• Experience using AI tools for daily functions (summarization, drafting, task organization).
• Willingness to provide feedback and test new tools.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for multi-jurisdiction client portfolios with high on-time SLA performance.
• Manage client relationships and governance with structured communications and follow-up.
• Enforce scope and client accountability; ensure timely data and reviews.
• Maintain real-time documentation in Salesforce, Certinia, and Google Drive with status updates and risk logs.
• Coordinate with Data Consultants, Tax Analysts, State Tax Authorities, and Sales to resolve escalations.
• Leverage AI tools for drafting updates, meeting summaries, and action item lists.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose automation opportunities to teams.
• Assist with testing new tools and workflows prior to rollout.
• Document SOPs, kickoff templates, and status reporting frameworks.
