Job summary

MONK is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join as a founding team member in New York City. You will embed with our largest customers, map ERP, cash application, and deductions workflows, and craft production-grade integrations that scale with growth.

You will own the outcome end-to-end, building agentic workflows that become integral to the customer’s AR processes. The role requires 3+ years shipping full-stack products and deep TS fluency, with hands-on experience in integrations,

Qualifications

• 3+ years shipping production full-stack products.
• Deep full-stack TypeScript fluency.
• Experience with integrations, APIs, webhooks, queues/workflows, and debugging distributed production systems.
• Built AI-native systems in production—or have unusually strong instincts for evaluation, failure modes, tracing, latency/cost tradeoffs, and safe iteration.
• Comfortable moving between a customer’s finance workflow and Monk’s stack: Next.js/React, Hono services, Postgres, Redis/BullMQ, Restate workflows, AI SDK/OpenAI, and MCP-based tooling.
• Customer-centric and owner mindset; able to work autonomously and thrive in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own the outcome by leading technical discovery through launch for complex customers and defining the workflow, success metrics, and integration plan.
• Ship production-grade integrations and internal tooling across ERPs, payment systems, CRM, and finance operations.
• Design, test, debug, and improve agent behavior across AR edge cases with focus on observability and reliability.
• Scale use cases by mapping real customer workflows in accounts receivable and building systems around them.
• Be the customer’s technical partner, working with finance, operations, IT, and engineering leaders and transferring ownership after launch.
