Job summary

Gusto is seeking an Agentic Operations Architect to define reusable patterns for agentic service workflows, establish standards, and prototype solutions that others can scale. You will drive platform improvements by surfacing gaps, validating patterns, and delivering faster, safer returns for builders across the organization.

You’ll influence Product, Engineering, Legal, and Security to ensure compliant, scalable AI-enabled operations while measuring performance and impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in operations, product, or AI roles with 2+ years designing and deploying AI-assisted or agentic workflows in production.
• Hands-on experience with agentic tooling, orchestration frameworks, or MCP-style integrations, including multi-agent coordination.
• Strong fluency with LLM systems: prompt design, evaluation, and how models actually behave at scale.
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop systems with clear escalation logic, override controls, and compliance-aware checkpoints.

Responsibilities

• Build the reusable patterns for agentic service workflows and get-off-the-shelf components when possible.
• Shape the platform by informing what to build next with evidence-based asks.
• Rank opportunities by volume, risk, and customer impact using data to guide decisions.
• Ensure quality and security by coordinating with Legal, Security, and Compliance teams.
• Present portfolio performance to senior stakeholders with concise, actionable insights.
