Job summary

MAXIMUS is seeking a Scrum Master to enable cross-functional delivery squads, coaching agile practices and ensuring customer and business value delivery. You will establish effective rituals, remove impediments and drive continuous improvement across teams.

You will mentor product owners, manage dependencies, and provide visibility with metrics and dashboards. A certified Scrum Master and experience in scaled delivery are valued for this role.

Qualifications

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master I or II (PSMI/II), or equivalent agile delivery qualification.
• Agile coaching, Kanban, Lean, Product or DevOps certification (Desirable).
• SAFe or other scaled-delivery certification (Desirable).
• Equivalent experience within technology, digital, software engineering or product delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate effective Scrum ceremonies, coach squads in agile principles, promote self-organisation and ownership, and help product owners and delivery teams maintain focus on customer and business value.
• Identify, manage and remove delivery impediments, improve team flow and predictability, support capacity and release planning, coordinate cross-squad dependencies and help squads balance pace, quality, and operational resilience.
• Mentor squad members, product owners and stakeholders in agile practices, facilitate collaborative problem-solving, challenge ineffective ways of working and ensure improvement actions arising from retrospectives, delivery data and feedback are owned and delivered.
• Use appropriate delivery measures, including throughput, lead time, cycle time, work in progress, work-item ageing, predictability and defect trends to identify risks, improve squad performance and provide meaningful delivery dashboards and stakeholder insights.
• Build strong relationships across technology and the wider Maximus organisation, translate delivery challenges into clear business impacts, communicate progress and dependencies effectively and facilitate informed planning, prioritisation and decision-making.
• Promote DevOps, continuous-delivery, automation, customer-centred and outcome-based practices, support effective use of approved delivery platforms and encourage responsible adoption of AI-enabled productivity and collaboration tools where these provide measurable value.
• Maintain accurate delivery information within the agreed platform as a single source of truth and ensure risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, blockers actions and decisions are recorded, assigned to accountable owners, regularly reviewed, clearly reported and escalated where required.
