Job summary

Commonpoint in New York is seeking a Youth Worker to support the daily afterschool program, creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for youth. You will supervise participants, help implement activities across academics, enrichment, SEL, leadership, and recreation, and assist with daily program operations under supervision of the Program Director.

This seasonal/part-time role typically runs 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, up to 19 hours per week, in school and community

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experience with children under 13.
• Staff must be at least 18 to supervise participants independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth and collaborate with staff.
• Must complete all required background clearances and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants during program hours and events.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
• Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support youth.
• Report incidents and concerns per agency procedures.
• Assist with attendance and program documentation.
• Support with activities across academics, enrichment, SEL, and recreation.
