Job summary

Commonpoint is seeking a Youth Worker for afterschool programs in New York City. The role focuses on supervising youth, ensuring safety, and delivering activities across academics, enrichment, SEL, leadership, and recreation.

The position supports program operations and daily tasks, with a focus on restorative practices and positive youth development. Part-time hours typically 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, up to 19 hours weekly, in school and community settings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• HS diploma or 1 year experience with children under 13.
• Staff must be at least 18 to supervise independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth and collaborate with staff.
• Complete required background clearances and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants during program hours, transitions, and events.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive environment and follow safety procedures.
• Support activities across academic, enrichment, SEL, leadership, recreation, literacy, and STEM.
• Assist with family events, field trips, and homework support.
• Communicate professionally and participate in meetings and trainings.
