Job summary

Commonpoint in New York is seeking a Youth Worker to support afterschool programming, help create a safe and engaging environment, and assist with activity implementation and daily program operations. You will work with program leadership and frontline staff to meet DYCD and Commonpoint standards and support youth development.

The role includes supervising youth, delivering academic and enrichment activities, and assisting with field trips and family events.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent OR at least one year of experience working with children under 13.
• Staff must be at least 18 years old to supervise participants independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth and work collaboratively with staff.
• Successfully complete all required background clearances and onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants during program hours, transitions, trips, and events.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment following safety procedures.
• Support positive behavior using restorative practices.
• Report incidents and concerns according to agency procedures.
• Support daily implementation of academic, enrichment, SEL, and STEM activities.
• Assist with family events, field trips, and program operations.
