Job summary

Commonpoint is seeking a Youth Worker for afterschool programs in New York. You will supervise youth, help implement activities, and support daily program operations in a safe and inclusive environment.

The role emphasizes restorative practices, collaboration with staff and school partners, and adherence to DYCD and agency standards. Part-time, in-person work is expected with some evenings and events as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of experience with children under 13.
• Staff must be at least 18 years old to supervise participants independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth and work collaboratively with staff.
• Successfully complete all required background clearances and onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants during program hours, transitions, trips, and special events.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment while following safety procedures.
• Support positive behavior using restorative practices.
• Report incidents, injuries, and concerns according to agency procedures.
• Assist with daily program operations and activity setup/cleanup.
