Job summary

Commonpoint is seeking a Youth Worker to support afterschool programming and help create a safe, engaging environment for youth. You will supervise participants, assist with activities, and help with daily operations while aligning with DYCD and Commonpoint standards.

This role emphasizes positive youth development, teamwork with staff, and flexibility to support events and field trips. Part-time, with evening and weekend hours as needed, in a school-based setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent OR at least one (1) year of experience working with children under 13 years of age.
  • Staff must be at least 18 years old to supervise participants independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth and work collaboratively with staff.
  • Successfully complete all required background clearances and agency onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily afterschool programming and supervision.
  • Ensure safe, inclusive environment and follow safety procedures.
  • Assist with activity setup, materials, and homework help.
  • Assist with family events, showcases, and field trips.
  • Maintain attendance procedures and required program documentation.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and staff to ensure effective operations.
