Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead to manage a licensed school-age enrichment program, ensuring safety, engagement, and quality daily operations.

You will implement the YMCA curriculum, maintain licensing compliance, and build strong relationships with families, school partners, and YMCA staff in a part-time role. A stipend is provided per hour, with schedule aligned to ISD calendars.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED with 70 hours of child/youth development training.
• Minimum one year of experience working with youth in a licensed childcare facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state and local background checks and FBI fingerprinting requirements.
• Current TB test and any required health screenings or immunizations per state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe: Create and maintain a safe environment with proper supervision, attendance records, and emergency responses.
• Site Management: Oversee the afterschool program, ensure licensing compliance, and maintain site equipment and setup.
• Supervision and Safety: Maintain records, monitor activities, and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior management techniques.
• Program & Policy Compliance: Conduct safety drills, ensure postings, and maintain health and safety standards.
• Program Planning and Implementation: Oversee age-appropriate activities per YMCA curriculum.
• Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate with parents about progress and concerns.
• Administrative Duties: Maintain enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention: Develop strategies to grow enrollment and retention.
• Program Quality: Plan and implement lessons and adhere to Y program model and standards.
• Program Evaluation: Lead YPQ interventions and adjust programs as needed.
• Child Abuse Prevention: Report concerns and ensure proper sign-in/out and access control.
