Job summary

Southeast Ventura County YMCA seeks an Assistant Site Director to oversee afterschool programs at sites with smaller enrollment, ensuring a safe, engaging, and high-quality experience for children and families during program hours.

You will implement the association-wide curriculum, supervise and mentor aides and teachers, maintain records, communicate with parents, and ensure compliance with licensing, health, safety, and emergency procedures; participate in trainings and meetings and support

Qualifications

• 12+ postsecondary units in early childhood education with 18 months work in licensed center.
• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with 6 months work in licensed center.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Knowledge of acceptable child care and day camp practices.
• Knowledge of California childcare licensing regulations for licensed programs.
• Ability to build relationships with school staff.
• Ability to work in teams, task forces and planning groups.
• Ability to run daily functions of a childcare site.
• Demonstrates initiative to plan, lead and participate in activities.
• All required online training must be completed before starting.
• Mandated reporting course completed within 30 days of hire.
• Familiarity with mandated reporting procedures.
• CPR & First Aid certifications current.
• Must have Health and TB clearance; TDAP, MMR, and Influenza vaccinations.
• Criminal records clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary on-site supervisor during program hours.
• Implement association-wide curriculum including arts, crafts, sports, STEAM, snacks, and youth development activities.
• Supervise children and program activities to ensure developmentally appropriate experiences.
• Support, supervise, and mentor aides and teachers to ensure quality program delivery.
• Maintain communication with parents and caregivers; serve as the on-site point of contact for day-to-day concerns.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including licensing, health and safety, behavior management, and emergency response.
• Maintain accurate program records, attendance, and required documentation.
• Ensure program spaces and equipment are safe, clean, well-maintained and stocked.
• Participate in regular mentoring meetings, training, and coaching sessions with the Site Director.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and complete online learning.
• Assist with family engagement activities and program events as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on program needs.

Education

12 postsecondary units in early childhood education + 18 months licensed center experience
