Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator at the McBurney YMCA to oversee academic enrichment and ensure alignment with school goals. You will supervise activities, manage daily operations, and maintain records to meet licensing standards.

Responsibilities include program design, SEL curriculum selection (COMPASS Elementary or SONYC), staff supervision, and strong collaboration with school partners to support student growth and safety.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience working with children under 13.
• CPR or First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct programs serving the designated grade bands (K-5 or 6-8) per DYCD requirements.
• Promote SEL best practices and design engaging activities for holistic student development.
• Integrate programs with the host school to meet academic goals.
• Recruit and retain participants to sustain attendance and engagement.
• Use data and evaluations to improve program quality and outcomes.
• Coordinate with partners, funders, and evaluators to enhance services.
