Job summary

The Vanderbilt YMCA, part of YMCA OF GREATER NEW YORK, is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator to support K‑8 programs after school. You will mentor youth, supervise staff, and ensure safety and positive learning environments.

You will help deliver SEL-focused activities, align with school goals, and maintain program records while collaborating with host schools and community partners. 1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. weekdays; occasional weekends required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s Degree in Education preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with children under 13.
• Current Pediatrics CPR or First Aid certifications preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct afterschool programs aligned with host school goals.
• Promote SEL and engaging activities for student development.
• Coordinate schedules and ensure OCFS/DOH/DYCD/YMCA compliance.
• Develop strategies to recruit and retain participants with high attendance.
• Maintain accurate program documentation and data records.
• Build relationships with schools, partners, and funders.
• Supervise staff to ensure safety and well‑being of participants.
• Participate in trainings and special events.
