Prosperity Child Development is seeking an Afterschool Group Leader for a part-time role in New York, NY. The role focuses on supervising school-age children, leading activities, and maintaining safety and structure in a busy afterschool program.

The ideal candidate is at least 20, has a high school diploma or GED, and at least 1 year of childcare experience. Strong supervision, teamwork, and communication skills are essential for this leadership position.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have at least 1 year of childcare experience, which may include babysitting younger siblings, caring for family members, or working in an afterschool, daycare, camp, or other youth program.
• Must demonstrate strong supervision skills and the ability to maintain a safe, organized environment for children.
• Must be able to follow directions, enforce program rules, and comply with all safety procedures.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and accountability.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with children, coworkers, supervisors, and families.
• Must be willing to work as part of a team while also taking responsibility for leading an assigned group of children.

Responsabilités

• Maintain active supervision of assigned children at all times, including during homework, snack, transitions, activities, and dismissal.
• Ensure children follow program rules, expectations, and behavioral guidelines.
• Lead age-appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
• Create a structured, positive, and engaging environment that supports children's development.
• Follow all attendance, headcount, sign-in/sign-out, and child safety procedures.
• Communicate concerns, incidents, and behavioral issues to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and prepared group area.
• Work collaboratively with other staff members and provide support when needed.
• Demonstrate appropriate behavior, respect, patience, and professionalism at all times.
• Follow supervisor instructions and program policies without compromising children's safety.
