Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York seeks a Content Specialist for the Rockaway YMCA location. The role involves selecting and managing curricula for COMPASS programs, coaching staff, and ensuring high-quality program delivery.

The ideal candidate will oversee content across multiple program areas, develop lesson plans, and collaborate with school partners to meet academic expectations. Part-time hours support youth development and inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with children under 13.
• Minimum of one year in a supervisory/oversight role, including management and development of program content, staff supervision, training, and coaching.
• Experience in developing education-based curriculum/lesson plans.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Select and manage content across program areas; create curricula and lesson plans when necessary.
• Oversee lesson plan implementation and support staff to ensure effective delivery.
• Coach staff with targeted strategies to improve lesson facilitation, classroom management, and behavior support.
• Review content to ensure alignment with high-quality standards of Y Afterschool Programs.
• Provide professional development for program staff to improve overall program quality.
• Monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure a safe, high-quality environment for youth development.
• Assist participants in improving academic skills and study habits.
• Work with the Program Director and school staff to understand academic expectations and develop activities and strategies accordingly.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment that respects diversity.
