Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York’s Castle Hill YMCA in the Bronx is seeking a Content Specialist to manage program content and curricula for COMPASS programs. Under supervision of the Program Director, you will oversee content creation, coach staff, and ensure high-quality program delivery that supports youth development.

You will collaborate with school partners, develop lesson plans, monitor activities, and promote an inclusive, safe environment while adhering to OCFS, DOH, and funder standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with children under 13.
• At least 1 year in supervisory/oversight role with staff development.
• Experience in developing education curriculum/lesson plans.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Select and manage content across all required program areas.
• Oversee lesson plan implementation and support Activity Specialists, Group Leaders, and Inclusion Specialists.
• Coach staff by providing targeted strategies and techniques to enhance lesson facilitation, classroom management, and behavior support.
• Review content to ensure alignment with high-quality standards of the Y Afterschool Programs.
• Provide professional development for program staff to improve overall program quality.
• Support monitoring and evaluating program activities to ensure a safe, high-quality environment for youth development.
• Assist participants in achieving improved comprehension and retention of subject material and skills.
• Help participants develop necessary study skills for academic success.
• Identify participants having trouble and provide encouragement and alternative explanations.
