Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Part-Time Content Specialist for the Flatbush YMCA in Brooklyn, NY. You will select and manage program content for COMPASS programs, oversee lesson plan implementation, and provide coaching to Activity Specialists, Group Leaders, and Inclusion Specialists to ensure quality delivery.

You will develop curricula, train staff, and monitor activities to maintain a safe, inclusive environment that supports youth learning and growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field required.
Minimum of two years of experience working with children under 13.
Minimum of one year in supervisory/oversight position.
Experience developing education-based curriculum/lesson plans.
General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Select and manage content across all required program areas and create new curricula when needed.
Oversee lesson plan implementation and support staff to ensure effective execution of plans.
Coach staff with strategies to enhance lesson facilitation and classroom management.
Review content to ensure alignment with high-quality standards of Y Afterschool Programs.
Provide professional development for program staff to improve program quality.
Monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure a safe, high-quality environment for youth development.
Assist participants in achieving better comprehension and academic skills.
Help participants develop necessary study skills for academic success.
Identify participants having trouble and provide encouragement and alternate explanations.
