Job summary

Tucker Freight Line is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead dispatch operations, schedule maintenance, and build trusted relationships with drivers and customers. This role manages daily service requirements and transportation logistics to ensure on-time, cost-efficient shipments.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of trucking operations, DOT regulations, and excellent communication skills. We offer comprehensive insurance, PTO, and a 401(k) with employer match.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Hours-of-Service rules.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and dispatch a team of CDL Class A drivers.
• Manage daily service requirements, including calls and client relationships.
• Oversee transportation and logistics for shipments to customers.
• Integrate transportation services into the customer's supply chain.
• Ensure safety guidelines and DOT regulations are followed.
• Monitor transportation costs and identify efficiency gains and savings.
• Provide strategic planning to support regional expansion.
• Maintain vehicle compliance with DOT and safety standards.
• Schedule maintenance with vendors.
• Track loads and drivers' locations and communicate updates.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Afterhours Fleet Manager is primarily responsible for dispatching, scheduling maintenance, and building trusting relationships with Tucker Freight Line's drivers.

Shift hours

1300-1900 Friday

0600-1800 Saturday

0600-1800 Sunday

0600-1600 Monday

• Leads, directs, and dispatches a team of professional CDL Class A drivers


• Manages daily service requirements, including daily phone calls and client relationships


• Manages all transportation and logistics for shipments to customers


• Integrates our transportation services seamlessly into our customer's supply chain


• Ensures safety guidelines are adhered to properly


• Monitors transportation costs and target areas that yield improvements and cost savings


• Provides strategic planning to support customer's regional expansion


• Provides accurate and timely reports


• Works closely with vendors


• Maintains vehicle compliance with DOT and Tucker Freight Lines Safety Standard


• Schedules maintenance services with vendors


• Embraces our commitment to safety as a core value


• Maintains high profile accounts


• Services and builds relationships with customers/drivers


• Evaluates the profitability and efficiency of the fleet


• ELD training(for themselves and to teach drivers)


• Answers all inbound calls


• Contact drivers that are late or need to leave the house


• Tracking and managing loads and driver's locations


• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Understanding of DOT regulations and Hours-of-Service


• General knowledge of the trucking industry and commercial motor vehicles


• Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft word, excel, etc.


• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills


• Must be a self-starter and have a positive, \"can-do\" attitude


• Embraces teamwork and appreciates problem-solving in group environments
