Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Counselor to guide the afterschool program, supervise staff, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for children across Katy ISD, Conroe ISD, and Humble ISD locations.

You will implement age-appropriate activities, monitor behavior, engage families, and help maintain program quality in line with YMCA standards. Requires a high school diploma or GED, training hours, and CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with demonstrated interest in welfare of children; prior childcare or babysitting experience preferred.
• 70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management; two college courses equal 100 hours.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.

Responsibilities

• Manage afterschool program site, ensuring safety and nurturing environment.
• Monitor attendance, incidents, and safety compliance; headcounts and records.
• Implement age-appropriate activities and curriculum; supervise staff and ensure program quality.
• Communicate with parents about child progress and concerns; maintain clean and organized site.

Education

High school diploma or GED with 70 clock hours of training

2 college courses equivalent to 100 clock hours

CPR, First Aid, AED and Child Abuse prevention trainings
