Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to oversee before/after school and day camp activities. You will create a safe, engaging environment for youth, lead activities, and foster positive relationships with families and staff.

Role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and participation in trainings; expects 18+ applicants with relevant experience and required CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 6 months of youth-related experience in a licensed setting.
• CPR/First Aid/AED training or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Keep children safe, engaged, and supervised at all times.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities and games.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Maintain a clean, safe program space meeting standards.
• Support program operations and staff trainings.
