Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an After-School Teacher/Tutor for Lenore PK8. The role provides supplemental instruction after regular hours in Grade 2/3, November 2026 through April 2027, under extracurricular/contract terms.

Responsibilities include tutoring in reading, math, writing, and other core subjects, with data-driven progress monitoring and collaboration with school staff. Qualified candidates hold WV teaching certification and have DI and i-Ready experience.

Qualifications

• Valid West Virginia professional teaching certificate.
• Knowledge of effective instructional practices and assessment strategies.
• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work with students of varying abilities and needs.
• Knowledge of and ability to use i-Ready diagnostics to pull data and review interventions.
• Experience with small group instruction.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction to support goal attainment.
• Understanding of content standards for grades 2/3.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic tutoring in reading, mathematics, writing and other core subjects.
• Plan instructional activities aligned with WV standards and student needs.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to strengthen skills and address gaps.
• Collaborate with teachers and program personnel to identify students needing support.
• Monitor student participation and progress; document instructional activities and progress.
• Maintain attendance records and required reports.
• Establish a positive, structured learning environment and supervise during program hours.
• Communicate student progress and needs to school personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Attend program orientation and professional development as assigned.
• Perform other duties related to after-school tutoring as assigned.
