Job summary

YMCA Afterschool Programs in the Albany area, Albany, CA, is seeking energetic staff for the Y-Kids Program. This part-time role supports a structured before and after school program, promoting STEM, healthy activities, and positive reinforcement for children.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; AA or Bachelor's preferred.
• Meets CA state licensing requirements including 12 ECE units.
• 1 year of experience in a professional child care or school-aged program.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all backgrounds.
• Must be at least 18 years old; pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification or completion within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement curriculum within guidelines and prepare supplies.
• Work with staff to ensure quality of the program.
• Provide direction to assistants as needed.
• Support children's development through activities and positive reinforcement.
• Care for children's health and well-being; provide first aid when necessary and report incidents.
• Use discipline methods that reinforce positive behaviors appropriately.
• Report notable behavior to supervisor per policies.
• Maintain communication with families and school personnel about child development.
• Maintain required program records.
• Attend program activities, trainings, and staff meetings.
• Keep the center clean and compliant with regulations.
• Ensure licensing standards are met at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
