Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking energetic part-time staff for the Y-Kids before and after school program in the Richmond area.

Responsibilities include planning curriculum, supervising children, guiding assistants, and promoting YMCA values while ensuring health, safety, and licensing compliance. Candidates should have a high school diploma, CA licensing units, and 1 year of experience in a child care setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; AA or Bachelors degree preferred.
• 12 ECE units required by CA state law/licensing.
• 1 year of previous experience in a professional child care or school-aged program.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups from all social/economic segments.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificates (15 hours) or completion within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Under direction, plan and implement curriculum within established guidelines and prepare supplies for activities.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Provide direction to assistants as needed.
• Promote growth and exploration for each child while reinforcing YMCA values.
• Care for children's health and well-being and report incidents promptly.
• Maintain discipline methods that reinforce positive behaviors.
• Document notable behavior and communicate with supervisor and parents, as required.
• Maintain program records and attend scheduled activities and trainings.
• Keep the center clean and ensure licensing standards are met.
