Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Counselor (Site Lead) to oversee day-to-day operations of a 5-12 age group child care program. You will lead in the director’s absence, support staff, and collaborate with families to promote healthy development and successful transitions for children.

Under the Youth Development Director, you will supervise programs, ensure safety and licensing compliance, and build partnerships with schools and community organizations to strengthen family services.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire; MAT within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform the director’s responsibilities in the director’s absence.
• Provide leadership in curriculum development and activities.
• Support a team of staff with guidance and development opportunities.
• Ensure licensing, standards and YMCA policy compliance.
• Engage families and community partners to promote positive outcomes.
• Maintain records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies.
