Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads in Virginia Beach seeks a Site Supervisor to lead high-quality child care for ages 5–12 under the Youth Development Director. You will oversee daily operations, support staff, and partner with families and community partners to promote positive outcomes for children.

This role emphasizes safety, engaging activities, positive behavior guidance, and strong communication with families. CPR/First Aid and MAT training within specified timelines are expected.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Meet the minimum qualifications for "Director-designee" as defined by VA Department of Education Division of Child Care Health and Safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and Safety: ensure safety of children at all times and enforce safety protocols.
• Support Activities: assist in preparing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Child Engagement: engage children in meaningful play, foster relationships and support individual needs.
• Behavior Management: promote positive behavior guidance and self-regulation.
• Communication: communicate with children, families, staff and leadership; provide progress feedback.
• Professional Development: participate in training and staff meetings to improve skills.
