Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Site Supervisor to lead high-quality child care programs for ages 5-12. Under the Youth Development Director, you’ll oversee daily operations, support staff, and collaborate with families and partners to promote positive outcomes.

Responsibilities include safety supervision, curriculum support, and professional development, with opportunities to impact children and communities across YMCA centers and partners.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Medication Authorization Training (MAT) within 60 days of hire.
• Completes all pre-employment requirements including background checks.
• Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills for interacting with children.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and safety: ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, actively supervising activities and meals.
• Support activities: assist staff in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Child engagement: foster meaningful play, positive relationships, and individualized attention.
• Behavior management: support positive guidance techniques and reinforce good behavior.
• Communication: share feedback with families, staff, and YMCA leadership.
• Professional development: participate in training and meetings to enhance skills.
