Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Counselor (Site Lead) to oversee child care programs for ages 5–12, under the Youth Development Director. You will lead daily operations, guide staff, and partner with families and schools to deliver high-quality, safe, and developmentally appropriate activities.

This role emphasizes strong leadership, curriculum delivery, licensing compliance, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 and high school diploma.
• Meet Director-designee qualifications per VA DOE.
• CPR/First Aid within 30 days; MAT within 60 days.
• Ability to work at multiple program locations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with families.

Responsibilities

• Lead program operations in director's absence.
• Oversee curriculum implementation and activities.
• Supervise staff and provide professional development.
