Directions for Youth & Families in Columbus, OH, seeks a Part-Time Recreation Coordinator for its after-school program. This role plans and leads recreational activities promoting healthy lifestyles and positive youth development in a structured setting, serving ages 8–18.

The position emphasizes engaging, age-appropriate programming, teamwork, and confidential documentation, with evenings and some weekend events possible.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, exercise science, health and fitness, or a related field preferred.
• Experience facilitating recreational or fitness activities and working with youth is required.
• Knowledge of a variety of sports, games, and physical fitness activities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate structured recreational and fitness activities for youth ages 8–18.
• Develop creative lesson plans that promote physical activity, teamwork, leadership, and healthy lifestyles.
• Instruct and engage youth in a variety of sports, fitness, and recreational activities
• Encourage teamwork, communication, sportsmanship, and positive decision-making through recreational programming.
• Supervise groups of youth in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
• Complete required daily documentation
• Participate in team meetings, staff trainings, and occasional special events.
