Job summary

YMCA of the East Valley in San Bernardino, CA is seeking an Assistant Site Coordinator to support the Expanded Learning Program (EXL). This part-time, hourly role assists the Site Lead, staff and EXL central office with paperwork, attendance, snack counts and sign-in sheets.

You will help supervise youth, coordinate activities and communicate with school staff and parents, while upholding YMCA policies and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all participants.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience working with school-aged children in a school program or youth-related activities.
• Must have completed at least 72 quarter units or 48 semester units at an accredited college or university, or pass the NCLB exam.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• At least one year experience with diverse populations; bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• One year supervisory experience.
• Strong communication and inter-personal skills.
• Understands YMCA is a public accommodation and complies with the ADA.
• Available to work 5 days a week during program hours; must have reliable transportation.
• CPR, First Aid certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire; background check.
• Must complete required module classes within 90 days after hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff and EXL office with paperwork, attendance sheets, snack count and sign-in sheets.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings as scheduled by EXL central office and YMCA Directors.
• Assist Site Lead to monitor Youth Leaders and supervise children within safety ratios.
• Coordinate staff involvement, daily activities, field trips and program operations.
• Respond to telephone, email and in-person requests professionally and informatively.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents, staff and community partners.
• Apply YMCA and EXL behavior management policies and procedures.
• Support development of engaging, age-appropriate activities aligned with EXL vision.
• Maintain illness awareness and ensure safety during entry and throughout the program.
