Job summary

ASAS-LA seeks a Program Coordinator in Los Angeles to lead an After-School All-Stars site, ensuring a safe, engaging program for youth. You will drive attendance, implement creative strategies, and supervise staff, volunteers, and activities after school.

The role requires coordinating with schools, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring health and safety standards while reporting to your supervisor. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in leadership or supervisory role within afterschool or youth programs.
• Ability to collaborate with school staff, officials, parents, and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for expanded learning programs is desirable.
• Ability to plan programs for diverse learning styles and interests.
• Experience in diverse communities encouraged.
• Strong verbal and written communication within a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and volunteers; manage professional development.
• Discipline and behavior management to maintain a positive atmosphere.
• Embed ASAS-LA Mission and Vision into daily practices.
• Ensure a safe and engaging environment for students.
• Provide guidance and role modeling for participants.
• Oversee day-to-day programming and report emergencies and conflicts.
• Maintain liaison with schools to strengthen partnerships.
• Implement ASAS-LA initiatives through observations and trainings.
• Collaborate with schools on extended learning activities.
• Conduct surveys for program evaluations with stakeholders.
• Maintain communications via weekly on-site meetings and assessments.
• Plan annual programs with session planning and calendars.
• Schedule site staff and payroll; manage expenses and inventory.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and conduct safety drills.
• Document safety incidents and report promptly.
• Register students in CitySpan and track attendance.
• Participate in meetings and travel for events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
