Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is seeking part-time youth mentors to support after-school and potential summer camp activities. The role runs from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, focusing on educational, enrichment, and recreational programs for youth.

Candidates should have youth development experience and commitment to a safe, positive environment. Responsibilities include delivering age-appropriate activities, guiding and supervising youth, and maintaining program spaces

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with a minimum of 600 hours working in a school-age program.
• Must have documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another field of study focused on children.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications to meet licensing requirements.
• Occasional travel for meetings/trainings may be required.
• May be asked to drive Club van occasionally (21+).
• Safe driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Creates an environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcomes and encourages program participation.
• Delivers age-appropriate day-to-day activities in line with program expectations.
• Assists in orientating new members to scheduling and program expectations.
• Provides guidance, role modelling, and constructive feedback.
• Demonstrates leadership by following safety and licensing practices and by tracking attendance.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of program spaces.
• Implements and supervises programs and evaluates their effectiveness.
• Documents problems or incidents and communicates with licensing when applicable.
• Participates in staff meetings and collaborates with families and colleagues.
