Job summary

Heart of Los Angeles Youth seeks a Bridges Math and Science Tutor to assist youth aged 10-18 with school work and projects. This part-time role provides academic guidance, aiming to improve homework completion and overall subject performance.

Responsibilities include small-group or one-on-one tutoring in math and science, checking homework, and supporting after-school programming. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred; CA DOJ background check required.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a college degree with college-level English and Math coursework (B or higher).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Experience with middle- and high-school youth mentoring and role modelling.
• Must pass CA DOJ Background check.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate small groups or one-on-one math or science tutoring for students needing help.
• Check homework completion and provide guidance to improve performance.
• Maintain a positive academic environment and support after-school programming.
• Develop assignments for students with low performance and monitor progress.
