Job summary

The Lutheran Social Services of Southern California is seeking a part-time tutor for the Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science programs at San Ysidro and Chula Vista High School. You will provide after-school tutoring and support students toward academic success.

Responsibilities include weekly tutoring, planning workshops, and maintaining student progress records, with a flexible schedule and a commitment to helping low-income and first-generation students achieve education goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of undergraduate coursework in Math, Science, Literature, or related field.
• Previous tutoring experience in high school subjects preferred.
• Knowledge of FERPA and handling confidential records.

Responsibilities

• Tutor UB and UBMS participants in the Academic content assigned throughout the year.
• Assist the participants in identifying and realizing their academic progress through periodic evaluations.
• Responsible for weekly after-school tutoring sessions to be held at the school site or virtually.
• Responsible for facilitating monthly or bi-monthly virtual or in-person academic workshops.
• Assist Director and Academic Coordinator with materials and logistics for tutoring sessions and workshops.
