Job summary

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Instructors to support our after-school enrichment program in Canton, MI. This role offers a perfect chance to develop teaching skills, learn classroom strategies, and mentor young chess players in a 15-22 student setting.

The position provides flexible weekday afternoon hours (2:00 PM–5:00 PM), a per-class rate of $25–$30, and mileage reimbursement for travel between local schools. Join a supportive team and gain hands-on teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in working with elementary students.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or similar is a plus.
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow directions and support classroom management.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chess Instructor in setting up and managing a chess class for 15-22 students.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to practice piece movements and basic concepts.
• Support activities, keep students engaged, reinforce good behavior.
• Follow structured curriculum and promote sportsmanship.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session and arrive prepared.
