Chess Wizards, Inc. in Canton, MI seeks enthusiastic Assistant Instructors to support our after-school enrichment program. You’ll assist the Chess Instructor in running engaging lessons for 15–22 elementary students and help with movement practice, classroom management, and activities.

This role offers hands-on teaching experience and the chance to mentor young chess players daily. Flexible weekday afternoon schedule, with 1–5 classes per week, plus travel to local schools.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in working with groups of elementary students.
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves simply.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Availability on weekday afternoons (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) to teach 1–5 classes/week.
• Commitment to school safety protocols and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chess Instructor in setting up and managing a fun, interactive class for 15–22 elementary students.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to practice piece movements and concepts.
• Support activities, keep students engaged, and reinforce positive behavior.
• Follow the structured curriculum and promote good sportsmanship.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
