Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school enrichment program. If you can make learning fun, create a positive classroom environment, and share the magic of chess with elementary students, this is the perfect side-hustle.

Location is West Bloomfield Township, MI. Classes occur weekday afternoons between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM at various local schools. Competitive pay per class and mileage reimbursement are offered to instructors.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational settings such as teaching, tutoring, coaching, or camp counseling.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, fun sessions for kids.
• Professional, positive demeanor suitable for a classroom.
• Strong sportsmanship and role-model qualities for children.
• Solid understanding of chess fundamentals and the ability to explain moves clearly.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life situations.
• Reliable personal transportation to drive between school locations.
• Availability on weekday afternoons within 2:00 PM–5:00 PM window.
• Commitment to school-safety policies and supervising children reliably.
• Excellent punctuality and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Follow our structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom environment.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Adhere to school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissals, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to engage students.
