Job summary

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school enrichment program in Canton, MI. Teach 1–5 classes per week after school, typically 2:00 PM–5:00 PM, using our curriculum to engage 10–15 elementary students in fun, structured chess lessons.

Instructors receive full training, a shared curriculum, and opportunities for advancement. Mileage reimbursement is provided for trips over 15 miles one way, with classes scheduled at local schools.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals; explain piece movement, basic strategy, and simple tactics for kids.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life problem-solving.
• Reliable personal transportation; ability to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoons; 2:00 PM–5:00 PM; teach 1–5 classes per week based on availability.
• Commitment to school safety protocols and supervising children.
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills.

Responsibilities
